Atrophy of the frontal lobe of the brain

Atrophy of the frontal lobe of the brain. The atrophy of the frontal lobes of the brain with consequent progress is observed in some of the diseases, for example, the Alzheimer’s and Pick’s disease. The destructive damage of the neurons of the predominantly frontal and temporal areas is typical for Pick’s disease and this conditions specific clinical symptoms. They help the doctor suspect the disease and diagnose it using the instrumental methods. Clinically, the damage of these sites of the brain manifests in the personality changes represented by hindered thinking and memorization. Intellect also decreases with the disease onset.

The individual degrades which is represented in awkward behavior, secretiveness and estrangement from close people. Motor activity and speech become mannered and can be repeated. The vocabulary reduces and the patient keeps repeating the same verbal patterns and same thoughts. The speech gradually becomes more primitive. Frontal lobes atrophy in Alzheimer’s disease differs from that in Pick’s disease: predominantly, the process of thinking and memorization is affected. Personal features are damaged much later.
