Atrophy of the left hemisphere of the brain
Atrophy of the left hemisphere of the brain. Every part of the brain is responsible for a specific function, so, when that part is damaged, the person loses the ability to accomplish some physical or intellectual actions. The pathological process in the left hemisphere conditions speech disorders, such as motor aphasia. When the disease progresses, the speech can reduce to separate words. Besides, logical thinking suffers and depression develops, especially if atrophy localizes in the temporal area predominantly. Atrophy of the left hemisphere of the brain leads to the absence of a full image, when the objects cannot be perceived as a whole.
Simultaneously, the ability to read disorders and the handwriting deteriorates. The analytical thinking, the ability to reason, to analyze and to manipulate with dates and figures are disordered. The person appears to be unable to correctly perceive and to process the information that leads to inability to memorize it. The addressed speech is perceived as separate sentences and even words, so no adequate reaction follows. Severe atrophy of the left hemisphere can lead to the complete or partial paralysis of the right side with motor activity dysfunction due to changes in the muscle tonus and sensitivity.
